Will I See My Friends On Facebook Dating? How To Control Who Sees Your Profile

Will I See My Friends On Facebook Dating – With Facebook’s recently launched Facebook Dating app in the United States, I’m sure all you singles are curious if your friends will see your Facebook Dating profile — or vice versa. I’ve got good news and even better news: they won’t know you’re using Facebook Dating until you tell them. Indeed, the opt-in dating service gives you a great deal of power over your profile’s privacy.

Nathan Sharp, Product Manager, Facebook Dating, outlined who will see your Facebook Dating profile and what profiles will be revealed to you in a press release. Sharp said, “People are recommended based on your likes, interests, and other things you do on Facebook.” “Facebook dating isn’t about swiping or waiting for someone to like you before reaching out to them. If you like anyone, you can leave a comment on their profile or tap the Like button to let them know. You should ignore them if you aren’t interested.”

More importantly, the people who view your Dating profile will not be your Facebook friends. Sharp explained, “Facebook Dating helps you to match with friends of friends and/or people who are not in your friend circle.” Your Facebook or Instagram friends will, however, be able to see your profile if you add them as a “Hidden Crush.”

“People told us they were interested in exploring potential romantic relationships within their extended circles, such as their Facebook friend list and Instagram followers,” Sharp added, “but people told us they were interested in exploring potential romantic relationships within their extended circles, such as their Facebook friend list and Instagram followers.” A majority of people said they’re secretly into someone they already meet, according to a dating report commissioned by Facebook and conducted by independent global market research company Edelman Intelligence, which surveyed 3,000 Americans aged 18 and up. According to the report, 53% of online daters have a crush on someone in their social circle but are “too shy to ask them out.”

Facebook’s Secret Crush feature is hoped to help crack the ice. In a press release, Facebook said, “If you want to use Secret Crush, you can pick up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers who you’re interested in.” You’ll need to link your Instagram account to Facebook Dating in order to add Instagram followers you’re interested in. “If your crush has chosen to participate in Facebook Dating, they will receive a message that someone has a crush on them.” What if your crush has added you to their list of Secret Crushes as well? It’ll seem to be a good match for both of you. However, it is the only time anyone can know they’ve been added to your Secret Crush List. “No one would know that you’ve entered their name if your crush isn’t on Dating, doesn’t build a Secret Crush list, or doesn’t place you on their list,” the press release explained.

So, unless you’ve added them to your Secret Crush list and they’ve added you to theirs, Facebook Dating won’t pair you with friends. Since this is such sensitive information, Facebook has taken precautions to ensure that users’ privacy is protected. According to the press release, “all of your Dating activity will remain in Facebook Dating.” “It will not be posted with anybody else on Facebook.” So there’s no need to be concerned about your Facebook Dating profile accidentally appearing in your aunt’s newsfeed or accidentally matching with an old classmate you forgot you friended.

You can also choose who sees your profile based on your likes, interests, and other details from your daily Facebook profile. In a press release, Erin Egan, VP, and Chief Privacy Officer, Public Policy, said, “You decide everyone on Facebook can see your Dating profile.” “Also, until you tell your Facebook mates, they won’t know you’re using Dating. Your current Facebook friends will never be suggested as matches, and you can choose if you want friends of friends to be suggested as matches — or whether you’d rather play with people who aren’t friends of friends.” Furthermore, if you have someone on Facebook banned, they will not be recommended to you on Facebook Dating. Just “the people recommended to you, the people to whom you’re suggested, and the people you add as Secret Crushes” will be able to see your Facebook Dating profile.

In other words, unless you add them to the Secret Crush list, your existing Facebook Friends list does not appear in your Facebook Dating feed (and you won’t appear in theirs). Start scrolling and making it official on Facebook.
