Facebook launched its Bitmoji-like Avatars. Here’s how to make yours. – Say goodbye to the days of being able to communicate your feelings only via Facebook’s generic sad, happy, angry, or thumbs-up emojis.
This week, after releasing it last year in other nations, Facebook rolled out its Avatar feature to users in the US.
The feature allows Facebook users to create a cartoon avatar of themselves, similar to Snapchat’s Bitmoji. In comments, Facebook stories, and messengers, they can use the avatar.
“So much of our interactions these days are taking place online, which is why it’s more important than ever to be able to express yourself personally on Facebook,” Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app, said in a tweet.
“With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars let you react and engage more authentically with family and friends across the app,” Simo added.
Follow the steps below to build your own Facebook avatar if you can’t wait to try out the new feature. In the Facebook app on iOS, these screenshots were taken, but the steps in the Android version are identical.
Step 1: On your iOS or Android phone, open up the Facebook app. Tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of your screen, then tap.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap “See More.”
Step 3: Tap on “Avatars.”
Step 4: Tap “Next” then “Get Started.”
Step 5: Choose a skin tone that best fits yours and then tap “Next.”
Step 6: Now, go through and hairstyle part, hair color, face shape, eye shape and color, makeup, eyebrows, nose shape, facial hair, body shape, dress, etc., and customize your avatar to your liking. If you want to get down to the extreme specifics, there is also a section for facial lines and complexion.
Step 7: Tap the checkmark in the top right corner of your screen if you’re done customizing your avatar and are pleased with how it looks.
Step 8: Once the screen finishes loading, tap “Next.”
Step 9: Tap “Done.”
Yay!-Yay! You can tap on the arrow sign in the upper right to share it with your Facebook feed or set it as a temporary profile image now that you have finished creating your avatar.
Tap on the sticker icon (the smiling square below the arrow) to see the various Avatar stickers, or click on the pencil icon if you would like to make any changes to your Avatar.
Simply tap the smiley face next to the gif icon and then tap the avatar icon at the bottom of the screen to use the avatar when making comments (fourth from the left).
