From 29 May 2015 until today, he served as the 15th President of Nigeria. He is currently one of the most disciplined and strict presidents Nigeria has ever produced. He was born in Daura, a small village in Katsina State in the northern part of Nigeria, on December 17, 1942.

Muhammadu Buhari was commissioned as a second lieutenant and appointed Platoon Commander of the Second Infantry Battalion in Abeokuta, Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria, in January 1963, at the age of 20. By completing the Mechanical Transport Officer’s Course at the Army Mechanical Transport School in Borden, UK, in 1964, Muhammadu Buhari facilitated his military training.

Muhammadu Buhari served as commander of the Second Infantry Battalion from 1965 to 1967 and, from April 1967 to July 1967, was appointed Brigade Major, Second Sector and First Infantry Division. Muhammadu Buhari was Brigade Major/Commandant of the Thirty-first Infantry Brigade from 1970 to 1971.

Muhammadu Buhari married his first wife, Safinatu Buhari, in 1971. (the first lady of Nigeria from December 1983 to August 1985). Together, they had five children, including four girls and one boy. Their first daughter was named after Buhari’s mother, Zulaihat (Zulai). Fatima, Musa (deceased son), Hadiza, and Safinatu Jr. are their other children.
