Facebook Email Service

With billions of people around the world using Facebook as a social networking tool, it’s a pretty nifty way to stay in touch with a broad circle of friends, business associates, customers, and acquaintances.
There are times, though, when you may want to directly contact an individual Facebook user for information to offer a product or service, as a potential hire or for a host of other reasons. At one time, Facebook offered its own email service (giving users a facebook.com email ID), but that service has been discontinued. You may be able to track down a user’s current email address, but if not, you can try to contact them through Facebook.

Find an Email Address on Facebook

After you have logged in to your Facebook account, go to the profile page of the person you want to contact. You can find a profile page by clicking on the person’s name if it is currently visible on the posts you have received recently. If not, enter the person’s name in the Facebook search box near the top of the page and then click on the appropriate account in the search results.
Once you are at the profile, click the “About” tab and peruse the information that is visible. Many users include their email addresses in the public profile, so you may find it right away. If not, other information, such as their city or workplace, may help in locating an email address through other means.

Use Facebook Messenger

Also on the profile page, you’ll notice a Message icon. Click it to send a note through Facebook Messenger, an SMS instant messaging service that is something like a mini-email service.
You don’t need to navigate to the profile page to send a message to a user. Move your cursor to the person’s highlighted name on your Facebook feed. After a moment, an options box opens that gives you the option to send an instant message.
Try a People Search

Striking out at Facebook? There are a wide variety of people-searching services online. With the person’s name in hand and auxiliary information such as their city of residence, you may be able to find an email address with a simple search. Try Pipl, for starters. (While you’re there, search on your name. You may be surprised at how much turns up). Intelius, which charges a modest fee, is another useful resource.
Facebook gives users a broad range of privacy options, so you cannot always view a user profile or communicate through Messenger, much as you might like to.
