How to change number on bvn (Name and date of birth) – Looking for information on how to change your bank verification number’s number, as well as how to change your name or date of birth?
This article will show you how to do so, with a focus on how to correct my bvn name.
Have you ever wanted to check your bvn using the *565*0# ussd code but couldn’t because the number wasn’t associated with your bvn?
It can be even more painful when you try to link your bvn to a new bank account and are unable to do so due to a name or date of birth mismatch or arrangement.
This situation is extremely inconvenient, and the only way to resolve it is for you to follow my instructions.
How to change number on bvn
If you’re looking for a way to change my bvn phone number online, I’m afraid you won’t be able to, at least not right now.
You must go to your bank and speak with a customer service representative to change your bvn number.
All you have to do is request that the phone number associated with your bvn be changed.
Your bvn and proof of identity will be requested by the customer service representative.
This is to remind you that if you’re going to the bank, you should bring your ID card with you.
Make sure your name, date of birth, address, and picture match your bank verification number, whether it’s a voter card or a national passport.
The bank customer service representative will then confirm that you are the owner of the bvn.
He or she will change the number on bvn to the phone number after receiving confirmation.
You can now use your new phone number to access your bank verification number.
If you want to change your Bvn phone number online, you won’t be able to because the bank will need to see your face and your means of identification (ID) before they can proceed.
Do you know that if you want to sign up for bvn and go to the bank to get yourself registered, the bank will tell you that your phone number is already associated with a bvn?
You can test this by dialing *565*0# to see if it returns 10 digit numbers. If it does, you can be confident that the number is associated with a bvn.
Purchase a new sim card with the most recent number, not an old reshuffled number, and use it to register for bvn.
How to correct name and date of birth on bvn
Looking for a way to change my bvn name? This is a common problem, particularly if you’ve just created a new account and want to link your bvn to it.
A mismatch error message will appear on your screen.
It’s possible that your name arrangement doesn’t match the way it’s written on the bvn.
For Example: Your name is Obi Chukwuebuka Samuel, Obi is your last name, Chukwuebuka is your first name, while Samuel is your middle name. And this is how it is on your bank account.
However, Obi is your last name, Samuel is your first name, and Chukwuebuka is your middle name on your bvn.
Some banks will link your bvn regardless of the name arrangement, while others will require you to correct it before linking your bank verification number to your account.
If you have a mistaken name, you can simply correct it with your ID card, such as a voter’s card, national ID card, or international passport.
Go to the bank where you did your bvn and speak with a representative in the customer service section.
You must inform them that the name written on your bvn is incorrect.
Following that, you will be given a form (bvn amendment form) to fill out, complete, and return to the customer service representative along with your form of identification.
A photocopy of your ID card will be made and attached to the bvn amendment form by the customer service representative.
It will be corrected right there, though it will not take effect right away.
In the event of an incorrect date of birth, you will be required to swear an affidavit in court, proving that the name on your ID card is correct and that the date of birth is correct.
Even if you bring your birth certificate, the bank will not accept it unless you also bring your affidavits and ID card.
They will change your date of birth to the correct one using the affidavits you provide.
Note that, depending on your bank, changing or correcting your name and date of birth usually takes two to seven days to take effect.
How to change my bvn phone number online
I’ve received a lot of messages from people asking if I can change my bvn phone number online.
As of the time of writing, the answer to this question is a resounding NO.
You won’t be able to make any changes to your bvn without going to the bank.
Bank verification numbers are treated with extreme caution, so banks always require that anyone who wishes to change their bank verification number do so in the bank, which necessitates the use of identification.
Your bvn number cannot be changed via internet banking, mobile app, ussd, or by calling your bank.
However, if you are not in Nigeria or are staying in a remote area, you can still contact them and they may be able to assist you.
I’ll update this post if anything changes, such as how to change the phone number associated with your bvn and how to correct my bvn name online.
However, you can still contact your bank to confirm that you won’t be able to change your bank verification number via the internet.
So, hopefully, I’ve clarified how to change my Bvn phone number online.
If you have any additional questions about the bank verification number, please contact your bank.
There are up to four methods which you can link your bvn to your bank account, and they are;
- Through ussd code
- Through internet banking
- Through bank bvn portal
- Through sms
Through Ussd Code: Requires you to dial your bank ussd code and through it you can link your bvn to your new bank account.
For example, *945*bvn#.
And it will immediately link your account to your bank verification number.
Through Internet Banking: Banks have made it possible for customers who use internet banking to link their bank verification number to their account.
To do so, simply log in to your internet account and select the option to link your bvn from the drop-down menu.
Through SMS: Another option is to link your bvn to your bank account via SMS. Banks such as Access Bank and Gtbank have made it possible to do so by simply sending a sms.
