How to delete Yahoo Mail account – Yahoo! Mail is an email service that was founded on October 8, 1997, by Yahoo!, an American corporation that is now a Verizon subsidiary. There are four distinct email options available: three for personal use (Basic, Plus, and Ad Free), and one for businesses. Yahoo! Mail has 225 million users as of January 2020.
The webmail interface, which can be accessed and managed using a standard web browser, allows users to access and manage their mails. Standard mail protocols (POP3 and SMTP) were also supported by some accounts. Users have been able to link non-Yahoo e-mail accounts to the webmail client since 2015.
Users may register accounts with “@yahoo.com” or “@ymail.com” or a national domain (“@yahoo.fr” in France, “@yahoo.co.uk” in the United Kingdom, “@yahoo.it” in Italy, and so on) for many years. Yahoo! currently only permits users to create “@yahoo.com” accounts.
Yahoo! has partnered with Four11, an online communications company, to create co-branded white pages. Marvin Gavin, the director of international business development at Four11, said “We’ve always had a preconceived notion that we’d be acquired by Yahoo. They were more business-oriented than Microsoft. We were a good cultural match, and it made sense.” In the end, Yahoo! paid $96 million for Four11. The RocketMail webmail service, which began in 1997, was the reason for Four11’s acquisition. On October 8, 1997, Yahoo! announced the acquisition, which coincided with the launch of Yahoo! Mail. Because, as Healy explained, Yahoo! preferred acquisition over internal platform development “Hotmail was gaining tens of thousands of new users every week. We conducted research. It would have taken us four to six months to create, and by then, so many users would have signed up for an email account. The market’s speed was important.”

Many Rocketmail users found the transfer to Yahoo! Mail to be difficult. Yahoo! discontinued free software client access on March 21, 2002, and instead offered a $29.99 per year Mail Forwarding Service. “For-pay services on Yahoo!, which were first released in February 1999, have received remarkable acceptance from our base of active registered users, and we expect this adoption to continue to increase,” Mary Osako, a Yahoo! spokesperson, told CNET. You can only close your Yahoo account if it has no balance and you haven’t canceled any subscriptions in the last 90 days. All emails sent to your Yahoo Mail account will be returned to the senders with a delivery failure notification once you terminate your account.
At the yahoo.com, ymail.com, and rocketmail.com domains, Yahoo Mail offers free email accounts with 1 TB of online storage. Yahoo Mail also has folders for storing messages and a search function for finding communications. You can cancel paid services and pay account amounts by going to My Subscription.
