How to Use Facebook Dating to Find Secret Admirers
30 April 2019, US, San Jose: Facebook manager Fidji Simo introduces the "Secret Crush" dating function at the F8 developer conference. You can use it to mark Facebook friends you find particularly attractive without having to tell them directly. Only when they put you on their list will that be revealed to both of them. Facebook has officially launched its own dating service in an attempt to compete with Tinder and other popular matchmaking apps.

According to the company, Facebook dating is currently available in 20 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam. Facebook intends to launch in Europe early next year.

To utilize the service, you must first sign up through Facebook, following which you can create a separate Dating profile from your main page, as long as you are over the age of 18 and have the most recent version of the social network program loaded.

According to the company, you will be recommended to other Facebook users who have already opted into the service based on your preferences, interests, and other Facebook activity. The program is comparable in many ways to Hinge, a dating app that allows you to chat with people without having matched with them via swiping as Tinder and Bumble do.

In a press release, the company noted, “Facebook Dating isn’t about swiping or waiting for someone to like you before reaching out.” “To let someone know you like them, post a remark on their profile or use the Like button. If you’re not interested, you can ignore them.”

By default, Dating matches you with Facebook friends of friends and strangers. Furthermore, the rest of Facebook will be unaware of this action.

You can match with someone you already know if you use one of the major new features, “Secret Crush.” If any of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers have also opted in to Dating, they will receive a signal that someone is interested in them.

If someone else adds you to their Secret Crush list, both of you will be notified that you’ve been matched.

How to Find Secret On Facebook Dating

“If your crush isn’t on Dating, doesn’t create a Secret Crush list, or doesn’t put you on their list,” Facebook wrote, “no one will know you’ve submitted their name.”

Another notable feature allows users to share information about a date and/or a live location with a trusted person so that they may monitor the user’s safety. In fact, Facebook is careful to emphasize out that security and privacy were priorities in the app’s design.

“Finding a love partner is a deeply personal experience,” the firm stated in a statement. “That’s why we built Dating to be safe, inclusive, and opt-in.” “This product prioritizes security, privacy, and safety. We collaborated with specialists in these sectors from the start to build in safety features including the ability to report and ban people, the prohibition of transmitting images, links, money, or videos in messages, and easy access to safety rules. You have more control and peace of mind with these and other features.”

According to Facebook, the program will be free to use, with no advertisements or in-app sales.
