How to Use Facebook Marketplace on Your Mobile Device

The Facebook Marketplace is easy to use and navigate on a mobile device. Touch the Marketplace symbol at the bottom of the Home page (which looks like a small storefront) to begin browsing the selection (assuming you’re using the Facebook app on an iPhone or Android device).

It’s simple to scroll up and down and browse with your finger. Simply touch on any of the listings you’re interested in to learn more. Without having to compose a longer message, you may rapidly tell the seller of your interest by hitting the blue “I’m Interested” or “Make Offer” button. Additionally, established businesses may have alternative buttons on their websites, such as “Check out on website” or “Add to Cart” (as opposed to another individual).

Creating a new ad with your phone is quite convenient since you can immediately take a photo of the item you’re selling without having to hunt through your hard drive or transfer photos from your phone to your computer.

Tips on How to Use Facebook Marketplace on Your Mobile Device

  • Select the Publisher whose name displays next to the question “What are you listing?” in Marketplace. This opens a new window with a list of categories for your item.
  • Choose from the following groups: Items for Sale, Vehicles for Sale, Rent/Sale Housing, and Jobs are all available. With the exception of Jobs, every category has a navigation interface for your phone’s photo roll.
  • The camera on your phone is activated by selecting a photo with your finger or tapping the camera symbol in the upper-left corner of your phone.
    Simply point and shoot!
  • Select Use in the upper-right corner of the screen once you’ve taken a shot you like and modified it to your heart’s content. This will return you to your phone’s camera roll. Return to the camera to continue capturing photos, or use existing photos from your phone’s camera roll.
  • Click the Next button in the upper-right corner of the screen after you’ve selected the photos you want to use. This starts the process of creating a new item.
  • Fill in the fields of the New Item interface with information about your item (title, price, category, location, and so on).
There are several additional options here that you won’t find on your PC. You can choose shipping alternatives, or if you’re selling the same item in many colors or styles, you can provide that information by clicking the blue Add More Options link.
  • You must pick whether or not to post this item on your profile, in addition to sharing it on Marketplace and in any Buy/Sell groups you may be a member of. Your items are only listed in the Marketplace part of the website by default. To make the additional options available for selection, tap on them.
  • The post should be tapped.
  • Your ad has been published on Marketplace.

Don’t be deceived by the number of stages involved. I once overheard someone describe the process of putting a large number of items on Facebook as something that could be done while holding a delicious beverage in one hand and their phone in the other.
