MTN Data Plans for Android & iPhone

How to Buy MTN Data

To buy MTN data, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your MTN line is activated in your phone.
  • Refill your MTN line with the amount required for your data plan.
  • Using the codes given, dial the code or send the SMS for the data plan you want.
  • You’ll see a screen asking you to confirm your purchase.
  • Click OK after typing 1 for Yes.
  • You’ll get a message confirming your transaction and the quantity of data you purchased.

Note that if you have a dual SIM Android phone, you must check your SIM settings in the Settings menu to ensure that MTN is set as the preferred network for browsing because only one network can be selected as the preferred network for surfing at a time.

Also, double-check your cellular network settings to make sure your desired network type is 3G alone, 2G only, 3G & 2G, or 4G.

It’s also worth noting that purchasing a more costly data plan with a larger data limit that will last longer is preferable to purchasing a less costly data bundle that will cost you more over time because you’ll be buying it many times.

Following the purchase of your MTN data, you should do the following to reduce data use on your smartphone.

  • Restrict background data on your apps: Go to Settings on your phone and disable background data usage for apps that aren’t in use. This will help you save data because apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat eat a lot of data in the background.
  • Stop auto-updates in apps: Some apps have unpleasant auto-update settings that can consume all of your data in minutes, even if you have a fast internet connection. Turn off auto-updates in settings to extend the life of your data.
  • Use data-compression browsers like Opera Mini and UC Browser: These sorts of browsers can cut your browsing data consumption in half; give them a try today.
