Facebook Dating Feature – Facebook Dating is the latest addition to the dating app community, and it has a ton of unique features to try out. Chances are you may have checked it out as soon as it was launched if you’re interested in meeting people on the social media conglomerate. But if Facebook Dating doesn’t turn up for you, don’t panic, a simple solution may be possible.

If you can’t locate dating on Facebook, it’s probably because of one of these two reasons: you’re not using the Facebook app, or you’re under 18. To be truthful, if you’re under 18, there isn’t anything to be done about it now. But all you have to do if you’re 18 or older, is to download the Facebook app to join Facebook dating (or make sure your Facebook app has downloaded the most recent update).

Your dating profile is separate from your Facebook profile, to be sure. “In a press release given to Bustle by Facebook Dating, the “How It Works” section reads in part.

It’s not about swiping or having to wait for someone to like you first before you have a first chance to reach out on Facebook Dating. You can directly comment on their profile if you are interested in anyone, or click on the Like button to let them know. You can move on them if you are not comfortable. Facebook Dating allows you to match friends of friends and/or people who are not in your social circle. If you want to use Secret Crush and you both add each other to your list, Facebook Dating will not fit you with your friends.

Facebook Dating Feature

One of Facebook Dating feature that’s interesting is that it won’t reveal your dating profile with your Facebook profile. Furthermore, your dating profile will not be confined by who is with your mates on the social networking platform. Instead, the “suggested” profiles will be centered on your Facebook interests, preferences, and other things you do (aka people that Facebook thinks you may like to reach out to).

The privacy settings included in Facebook Dating could also spark your curiosity. First, Facebook Dating is opt-in only which means that if you actively want to join the network, you only join the network; and if you don’t want to join Facebook Dating, Facebook won’t create some kind of dating profile on your behalf to link to your regular profile. The Facebook Dating Press Release reads.

If you create a Facebook dating profile, your Facebook profile will only contain your first name and your age. You can opt to post it on your dating profile for all other details, such as your gender identity, who you are interested in, photos and more. If you have different details than you have on your Facebook profile, and if Dating shares information such as your birthplace, religion, occupation, and more, you can also choose how you want to convey yourself to prospective matches.

Another fun little part of Facebook Dating is that you can decide whether you can recommend matches for your Facebook mates’ friends, or whether you want even more space between your dating universe and your daily world of profiles.
So even though you use Facebook Dating, you should rest assured that unless you want them to, your boss can never see your dating profile, because of the Facebook dating feature. The same goes for your nosy mates in the family. Just what a relief it is.
