Nigerian media and public affairs professional and U.S. Exchange alumnus, Aniekeme Finbarr, has engaged the new United States Consul-General in Lagos, Mr. Brandon Hudspeth, on opportunities for deeper collaboration between the United States and Nigeria, particularly in support of development initiatives in Akwa Ibom State.
Finbarr participated in a breakfast meeting with the Consul-General, senior officials of the U.S. Consulate, and leaders of the U.S. Exchange Alumni community in Lagos on Wednesday.
The engagement provided a platform for constructive dialogue, relationship-building and the exchange of perspectives on areas of mutual interest, including community development, innovation, economic opportunity, peace and people-to-people partnerships.
During the meeting, Finbarr shared perspectives on the opportunities and potential within Akwa Ibom State, highlighting areas where greater collaboration and knowledge exchange could support the state’s development aspirations and contribute to broader national development objectives.

He also emphasised the important role of U.S. Exchange alumni in strengthening the longstanding people-to-people ties between the United States and Nigeria by applying the knowledge, networks and experiences gained through international exchange programmes to initiatives within their communities.
